It’s been a whirlwind for the New York Islanders. Decimated by injuries, Patrick Roy’s squad hasn’t had much time to practice—or even catch its breath.

After playing 10 games in 19 days, the Islanders finally get a breather, with just one game over the next five days. They’ll face the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night before the holiday break, then return to action Saturday night against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

So, just how vital is this break?
