EAST MEADOW, NY — New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov cannot catch a break.

After missing the final 63 games of the 2025-26 regular season, the 26-year-old blueliner will likely miss the rest of the 2026-27 regular season after tearing his right ACL in the third period of the Islanders’ 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

His estimated timeline is six to eight months.
