TORONTO — When Bo Horvat was named captain of the New York Islanders, it wasn’t because of how vocal he was in the room or on the bench.

“I’m not gonna be the loudest guy in the room. That’s just not who I am,” Horvat said at the Islanders Children’s Foundation Golf Outing a few days before training camp opened. “Trying to lead by example on and off the ice is my biggest thing. Just continue to keep pushing forward and getting better. Any way I can help the team is what I’m gonna try to do.”

Well, with the Islanders looking for a spark down 2-0 late in their season opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night, Horvat lived up to his words on the penalty kill.
