Stick taps to Brock Nelson for making the Team USA 4 Nations Face-Off Roster.

We will get to him in a bit.

The Islanders are back in action tonight at 7:30 PM in a big tilt against the Seattle Kraken, a team they played a few weeks ago in Washington.

That game ended in disaster. The Islanders blew a third-period lead and lost under four minutes to play after a goaltender interference call didn’t go their way.

The Kraken have lost three of their last four games but are coming off a 4-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Islanders may have lost their last game, a 2-1 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens, but their last home game was a 3-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres.

Can the Islanders extend their point streak to four games?

Anders Lee Leads Islanders In Goals; What's His Secret?

Through the opening 26 games in 2023-24, New York Islanders captain Anders Lee had seven goals with three assists for 10 points.

Through the opening 26 games in 2024-25, he has 11 goals and nine assists.

On Tuesday, he scored the tying goal against the Montreal Canadiens, giving Lee goals in three straight games.

It’s simple to point to playing time alongside Bo Horvat as a key part of his overall success. But from opening night, on the third line, we saw a different Lee.

What's his secret?

Brock Nelson Rightfully Earned Team USA Bid

Forget the Nelson-Christian Team USA legacy. Forget the fact that Nelson has represented the Red, White & Blue four times since becoming an NHLer.

Brock Nelson earned his roster spot on USA’s 4 Nations Face-Off team.

The 33-year-old Minnesota native has played 12 years in the NHL and might be one of the most underrated players of this generation.

He’s had three 30-plus goal seasons over the last three years entering this season and has 10 goals to sit one back of the Islanders team lead.

Since 2021-22, Nelson is 19th in the NHL in goals with 117 and ninth amongst forwards.

That puts him fourth amongst American forwards who made the squad.

And according to Islanders team writer Cory Wright, since the start of the 2018-19 season, Nelson’s 142 even-strength goals are fourth-most amongst American-born players.

Despite his output, Nelson has only been an All-Star once in his NHL career, which came in 2023, again proving how criminally underrated he has been.
