Brock Nelson's Goal Drought & How It Impacts His Trade Value
Brock Nelson has not scored a goal in 17 straight games.
New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson has not scored a goal in 17 straight games.
Does head coach Patrick Roy think No. 29 needs to do more to create chances, or is he doing all the right things but not getting the results?
“I like the way he’s played,” Roy said. “The last game with Barzal, I thought they played very well. In my opinion, they were our best line, and I was very pleased with the way they played. Seems like they were playing well and they were seeing each other pretty well on the ice.
“So, I was very happy to see that sometimes when, you know, I guess the question is about the scoring and all this. So he just needs to stay around the net and eventually get one, and then hopefully that will bring a lot of confidence in this game.”
Nelson, who is in the final season of a six-year deal worth $6 million annually, has 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 40 games. The 33-year-old is on pace for just 20 goals after scoring 30-plus in each of the last three seasons.
While the Islanders haven’t officially made Nelson available on the trade market, many Islanders fans wonder just how much this goal-scoring slump impacts Nelson’s value?
I don’t think it will impact his value a whole lot and here’s why?
