Defenseman Tony DeAngelo has only played eight games with the New York Islanders since signing for the rest of the season on a pro-rated $775,000 deal for the rest of the season.
DeAngelo quickly found a home alongside Alexander Romanov in Noah Dobson’s absence—one of the biggest reasons he was brought in—using his speed, intelligence, and playmaking ability to crease successful breakouts and offensive chances.
While the penalty kill has struggled, it’s clear why DeAngelo’s had success in his career on the power play, given his ability to walk the blue line, make quick plays, and throw off the defenders.
DeAngelo struggled in the second of back-to-back against the Minnesota Wild, but outside of that game, he’s been rock solid for his new team.
