Any time the Islanders host the Vancouver Canucks, the Bo Horvat trade inevitably comes to mind. With the Canucks in town, I caught up Pageau to ask him what he remembers from that day.
Boy that First Period was Ugly! Without Horvat leading this team the compete is sad. Detroit was the same, Sorokin was playing out of his mind which kept the game close. This team is still thin on talent and grit. The injuries to Romanov, Palmeri, and Horvat are too much to overcome.
They'll compete better with horvat back but Darsche needs to find a fix for losing Palms. Team just isn't deep or offensively good enough overall even BEFORE the injuries. They were 1 point out of first but a few more losses & they're likely to be in last in the very tight division. I'm pessimistic about this season. Friday's game was MUCH MORE TROUBLING due to the lack of effort. Not good.
