It marked Matthew Schaefer’s first taste of one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports — one he had been looking forward to since the night he was drafted.
Schaefer spoke with The Elmonters about the experience, his relationship with Matt Martin’s father-in-law, Boomer Esiason — a Long Island native and die-hard Rangers fan, as well as the former quarterback of the New York Jets — and what it’s been like having two people he can learn from when it comes to playing professionally in this market and getting involved in charity work.
