EAST MEADOW, NY — The New York Islanders’ defensive play has been an area of concern for the team through their opening three games.

The Alexander Romanov-Tony DeAngelo pairing has been at the forefront, having been on the ice for four of the nine 5-on-5 goals they’ve allowed this season.

  • Pittsburgh Penguins (4-3 loss): 14:30 TOI together, outshot 9-5, no goals against

  • Washington Capitals (4-2 loss): 14:03 TOI together, outshot 9-8, two goals against

  • Winnipeg Jets (5-2 loss): 11:52 TOI together, outshot opponents 11-4, one goal for two goals against
