The New York Islanders collapsed again in the third period, falling 6-3 to the struggling Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.
It was a disappointing result, as the Islanders fell behind 2-0 early, battling back to tie the game late in the second period only two allow three unanswered goals in the final frame:
A win could have had the Islanders sitting in a wild-card spot.
Instead, they wake up on Thanksgiving morning, sitting 14th in the Eastern Conference.
However, there are reasons to be thankful, and that’s for you guys.
I want to thank all of you for your belief in me from the start and your continued belief in my coverage. I couldn’t have lived my dream without the support of this passionate fan base, and I owe a lot to you.
Have a great Thanksgiving, and enjoy the day with your families. If you do watch the Giants game, hopefully they don’t embarrass us.
If they do, just grab another beer and laugh it off!

Islanders Patrick Roy Still Waiting On Oliver Wahlstrom
Ahead of their game on Wednesday against the Boston Bruins, New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy took Oliver Wahlstrom off the power play.
The Hockey News asked Roy about what he's seen from the 23-year-old former 11th overall pick.
"I look at the menu, and there's a lot of shit on it. It's a beautiful thing, but I still have my appetite," Roy said on Wednesday morning. "He hasn't given me something that makes me feel like, 'okay.' Like last game on the power play, he had two turnovers at the blue line. At 5-on-5, he's doing a lot of good things.”

Five Reasons For Islanders Fans To Be Thankful
Listen, I know it’s tough for Islanders fans to find anything positive with the team 8-10-5 after 23 games.
But in honor of the Thanksgiving spirit, here are five things to be thankful for:
Players Are Inching Closer To Returning: While Mathew Barzal hasn’t skated yet, Anthony Duclair and Adam Pelech are working their way back. They’re skating on their own, and it’s only a matter of time before they’re back in the lineup.
The Eastern Conference Wild-Card Standings: Sure, the Islanders may not be vying for a top-three spot in the Metro, but most teams have failed to take advantage this season. Despite all their struggles, the Islanders only sit three points back of a wild-card spot.
Pending UFAs Upping Their Value: Whether you think the Islanders should trade Brock Nelson or Kyle Palmieri or hold on to them, they’re both playing exceptionally well. They each have 10 goals on the season to lead the team, with Palmieri having nine assists to Nelson’s seven. They will both be attractive trade deadline targets.
Patrick Roy’s Honesty: I’ve mentioned this before, but the Islanders’ head coach has no problem saying what’s on his mind. He believes he owes that to the fan base for being open and honest, and he’s certainly been that way whether he’s talking about a specific player or the group as a whole. Yes, sometimes he might be too honest, but that’s just his personality.
Ilya Sorokin Is Healthy: One of the biggest concerns entering the 2024-25 season was Sorokin’s health, given his off-season back surgery. While the numbers, a .909 SV% and a 2.70 GAA in 14 games, may leave more to be desired — if you ask him, he’ll tell you that — he looks more like the goalie who was a Vezina finalist in 2023, in terms of his movements, than the player we saw last season. That’s important, given that this is the first season of an eight-year deal worth $8.25 million.
