Ahead of puck drop against the Florida Panthers, the New York Islanders made a flurry of roster moves.
The Islanders made a flurry of roster moves prior to puck drop:
Anthony Duclair (lower body) has been placed on LTIR (retro 10/19).
Liam Foudy has been loaned to Bridgeport.
Matt Martin has signed a one-year contract.
Pierre Engvall and Hudson Fasching have been recalled from loan.
General manager Lou Lamoriello made it clear that Duclair’s timeline was 4-6 weeks, citing that the delay with putting him on LTIR was to accrue as much cap space as possible.
He dove into all of the decisions he made and I wrote some mini stories on each one over at The Hockey News.
Check out those stories below, along with our game recap:

Islanders General Manager Lou Lamoriello Explains Matt Martin's Role After Signing Veteran To NHL Contract
ELMONT, NY -- NHL veteran Matt Martin entered this past training camp without a contract for the first time in his 15-year NHL career.
But, on Saturday, a contract was his, signing a one-year, one-way deal worth league minimum ($775k) after the Islanders elected to place the injured Anthony Duclair on Long-Term Injured Reserve.
"Marty came to camp completely on a tryout," Lamoriello stated. "He worked extremely hard. It's probably in the best shape I've actually seen him in physically over the last couple of years. So today, we decided that we would go forward with him."

Pierre Engvall Going To Bridgeport Was 'Absolutely' A Wake-Up Call Says Islanders General Manager Lou Lamoriello
ELMONT, NY -- New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello didn't mince words when discussing Pierre Engvall.
"We certainly weren't happy with Pierre, to be perfectly honest, of what we feel he can bring," Lamoriello said. "We want him to bring that because we know that he can help us in that lineup. He is an NHL player, without question.”
When asked if Engvall not making the team out of training camp was a way to give him a wake-up call, the answer from Lamoriello was "absolutely.”
