When the New York Islanders hired Rocky Thompson as the next head coach of the Bridgeport Islanders, the vibes seemed to change automatically.

During his first media session, Thompson said, “We are not going to be punching bags anymore.”

It’s no wonder that, when speaking with Bridgeport prospects at development camp, excitement was high. One prospect in particular, Matthew Maggio, was thrilled—thanks in part to a personal connection.
