New York Islanders starting netminder Ilya Sorokin is coming off his best game of the season, and honestly, it was one of his better performances in quite some time again. I’m not high on stats with goaltenders because, honestly, I trust the eye-test and stats miss out on important stuff for netminders — so I’m not diving into the numbers.

But I will dive into what I saw on a night where Sorokin stopped 23 of 23 in a 3-1 win against the Washington Capitals, his first game of the season, allowing fewer than three goals.
