Islanders Amongst A Handful Of What-If Teams For Last Wild Card
The Islanders' devastating loss to the Vancouver Canucks wasn't actualy the nail in the coffin.
ELMONT, NY — The New York Islanders knew what was at stake on Wednesday night, the chance to be in a playoff spot for the first time since Nov. 17.
The start was great, but nothing to show for it. The middle was all over the place, with the Forbort goal with 29.9 seconds to play in the second serving as the dagger that broke the camel’s back before Blueger’s goal just 1:05 into the third, leading to a listless final 29:55 of the game.
So, the Islanders tossed away their chance to be in control of their own destiny.
But, contrary to popular belief, this loss didn’t signify the death of the Islanders’ season.
