The New York Islanders, winners of five straight games and eight of their last 10, have truly found their game at a time when they desperately needed to.

Not only does Patrick Roy’s team have the ability to extend their winning streak to six games, but with any kind of win over John Tortorella’s squad, they’ll hop them in the standings.

The Flyers just got killed by the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night 5-0 and had to use two goaltenders, while the Islanders are well rested. There’s really no excuse for New York to drop this one if they play their new brand of hockey.

It’s crazy to say, but the Islanders could wake up two points from a wild-card spot on Friday morning. But a lot has to go their way.
