Islanders Conclude Back-To-Back Against Hurricanes: Lines & Notes

Over 24 hours after dropping the first game of their weekend back-to-back, the New York Islanders (32-30-10) wrap it up against the Carolina Hurricanes (44-24-4).
Puck drop at Lenovo Arena is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., and the game can be found on MSGSN.
The Islanders lead their season series with Carolina with a 2-1-0 record; the Hurricanes are 1-1-1 in their three games. In their last meeting on Jan. 25, New York rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to pull out a 3-2 overtime win. Anders Lee tied the game late in the third, and Brock Nelson won the game in the extra session.

Defenseman Tony DeAngelo has a five-game point streak after lighting the lamp against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. He has red lights in back-to-back games, totaling two goals and four assists for six points in that span.
Adam Boqvist returned to the lineup on Saturday and recorded a helper back at the blue line. He now sits one point short of 100 for his NHL career, boasting 27 goals and 72 assists for 99 points.
Bo Horvat has been a menace to the Hurricanes over his last 10 games against them in the regular season. In that span, he has three goals and eight assists for 11 points.
Lee is the Islanders’ top scorer against the Hurricanes coming into Sunday. New York’s captain has 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points in 37 career games against Carolina.
Marcus Hogberg will start against Carolina for the second straight meeting. He last appeared in relief of Ilya Sorokin against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, stopping all five shots faced. Against Carolina, he has three no-decisions but played the bulk of their last meeting, making 24 saves on 26 shots before leaving early due to injury after regulation.
OPPONENTS NOTES:
The last time the Islanders faced Carolina, it came on the heels of a major shakeup. Mikko Rantanen joined the team in a blockbuster trade but was since flipped to the Dallas Stars. Forward Logan Stankoven was part of the return, he has a goal and three assists for four points in nine games since the trade.
Jackson Blake, son of former Islanders forward Jason Blake, had a three-point game against the Montreal Canadiens on Friday, the first of his career. The forward had a goal and two assists in the win.
Taylor Hall has lit the lamp in his last three games. He has five goals in that span following a hat trick against the Anaheim Ducks on March 23. Since joining the Hurricanes back in January, he has eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 22 games.
Sebastian Aho has a seven-game point streak against the Islanders entering Sunday’s game. The forward has five goals and three assists for eight points in that span.
Hall leads the Hurricanes in career goals against New York, recording 17 in 36 career games. Captain Jordan Staal leads the team in assists and points against them, notching 34 and 50, respectively, in 79 games.
