ELMONT, NY — “Practice makes perfect” is a popular phrase, but it isn’t necessarily true.

You can practice all you want, but if you aren’t practicing correctly, you won’t achieve much.

“Perfect practice makes perfect.” Thanks, Dad, for drilling that into my mind growing up. It’s paying off right now.

Since day one of training camp, the New York Islanders have worked tirelessly on their Pete DeBoer structure.

Last season, and quite frankly during most of this Ilya Sorokin Era, the Islanders have allowed too many prime scoring chances against their goaltenders, and that needed to change if they wanted to succeed this season.

It’s changing right before our very eyes.
