Islanders Face Ducks To Conclude California Back-To-Back : Lines & Notes
The Islanders look to sweep their back-to-back.
With the NHL Trade Deadline behind them, the New York Islanders (29-26-7) play the second game of a back-to-back against the Anaheim Ducks (27-28-7).
Puck drop at Honda Center is scheduled for 9:00 p.m., and the game can be found on MSGSN.
The Ducks topped the Islanders 3-1 in their first meeting back on Oct. 29. Anaheim scored a goal in each period of play, with Mathew Barzal scoring New York’s lone goal on the power play. Lukas Dostal made 40 saves in the win.
The Islanders activated goaltender Marcus Hogberg off the IR ahead of Sunday’s game. He will start Sunday. Kyle MacLean will draw out of the lineup, with defenseman Adam Boqvist serving as the Islanders’ fourth-line center.

Who’s Hot:
Jean-Gabriel Pageau had three points in Saturday’s win over the San Jose Sharks, picking up a goal and two assists. It’s the 13th three-point game of his career and his sixth with the Islanders. He also recorded his 200th assist in the win.
Bo Horvat enters Sunday’s game with a three-game point streak against Anaheim. The center has a goal and three assists for four points in that span.
Anthony Duclair leads the Islanders in career goals against the Ducks, notching 13 in 21 career games. Horvat leads the team in assists and points against Anaheim with eight and 19, respectively.
After Ilya Sorokin made starts in all but one game since January 25, Hogberg will return to the crease on Sunday. He’s faced Anaheim twice in his career, owning a 0-1-1 record with a 3.37 GAA and .837 SV%, most recently allowing five goals on 15 shots on March 10, 2020.
Opponents Notes:
Mason McTavish has a three-game point streak coming into Sunday’s game. The Anaheim center has two goals and two assists for four points in that span. He had a pair of helpers the last time he faced the Islanders.
Winger Sam Colangelo has been hot since his recall from AHL Bakersfield on Feb. 27. He has goals in three straight games, adding an assist for four points in a three-game point streak.
Alex Killorn enters Sunday’s game on milestone watch, sitting one assist short of 300 for his career. In 930 career games, the former Tampa Bay Lightning has 229 goals and 299 assists for 528 points. He is the Ducks’ leader in goals and points against New York, boasting six and 14, respectively, in 32 games.
Following his strong showing in their last meeting, Dostal will once again be in net for Anaheim. He last started on Friday against the St. Louis Blues, allowing three goals on 21 shots in a loss. Against New York, he is 1-1-0 with a 3.53 GAA and .883 SV%.

Lou blow the dust off that off season plan. Very poor performance! Hogberg very good keeping us in game. We simple steal it in third period or at least get a point or the rest of the season is a waste. Ranger Game all over again!
Patrick should be pealing the paint off that locker room. It’s time he lost his cool and shocked that team with intensity. Put the paddles to that carcass we saw in the first period. There is no tomorrow it’s simply do or die. What an ugly disgraceful period. We need to see the Patrick that was in goal, challenge this teams manhood.
