Overall physical play is the Islanders ticket to success. And the last few years they have been reluctant to get in the breach and mix it up. With the goaltending we are getting and all the advanced metrics we should be a more successful team. It’s really a matter of net front presence and just shooting the puck. Get into the middle and stop passing up shots, crash the net and be physical. Today’s NHL demands that commitment to play between the dots. PP has to stop trying to be the Avs, it’s not working. Take point shots get tips and buzz the crease. All the D Man should shoot more. We need volume not pretty tick tack toe plays.

Engvall sometimes you gotta take a step back to take a step forward. He just needs to accept that this is the NHL and he has to engage physically. Finish checks, and have some push back. It’s not like he doesn’t have the tools, plus he shouldn’t be so concerned about his face, dudes married. It’s okay to have battle scars and dental work. Accept that and put your nose in there, you could be a real player in this league. The very thought of going back to Bridgeport should scary anybody.
Not against resigning Matty. He is rested healthy went through camp, and most of all has something to prove. A well motivated hard hitting Martin is a plus and let’s get physical.
Engvall great move, you say to him prove it! I think we will see the absolutely best version of him. Going back to Bridgeport, is like Siberia.
Shit even the PK is showing signs of existence. In years past the Devils looked so much faster than the Islanders. One thing I’ve noticed this year the entire team seems quicker and faster. I see Lee skating this season and it startling how well he is skating compared to previous seasons. Certainly a few years removed from injury helps, but also Patty approach has helped everyone. Go down the roster everyone seem significantly quicker.
Romanov is a complete player and the perfect partner for Dobson. Each player can learn from each other and make each other better. Dobson would be help immensely by playing a more physical game in general, it would bump up his decision making and confidence. Pelech looked like vintage Pelech recently and that is huge. Pulock too that pairing is starting to hum. Mayfield looks very good also, Reilly is coming around
