Hudson Fasching returns to the lineup.
ELMONT, NY — After a controversial shootout loss on Monday, the New York Islanders (32-28-10) welcome the Vancouver Canucks (33-26-12) to Long Island to finish their four-game homestand
Puck drop at UBS Arena is scheduled for 7:30, and the game can be found on MSGSN.
The Islanders and Canucks last met on Nov. 14 at Rogers Arena, with New York picking up a 5-2 win. The Islanders rattled off five straight goals in the win with five different players lighting the lamp.
Vancouver is in the middle of the Wild Card hunt in the Western Conference, sitting five points out of the St. Louis Blues for the final postseason spot, but the Canucks have three games in hand on St. Louis entering Wednesday’s game.

Who’s Hot:
After an assist on Monday, center Bo Horvat has a four-game point streak entering Wednesday’s game. The former Canuck has three goals and two assists in that span and tallied a pair of helpers in their last game against Vancouver.
Defenseman Tony DeAngelo has an assist in three straight games after recording a multi-helper game on Monday. He has four assists in that span and 12 in 23 games since joining the Islanders.
Kyle Palmieri leads active Islanders in goals against the Canucks; the former Anaheim Duck has seven in 24 career matchups. Anders Lee tops the team in assists and points against them with nine and 15, respectively, in 20 games.
Ilya Sorokin will start for the Islanders on Wednesday. He dropped Monday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, allowing three goals on 30 shots in a shootout loss. OPPONENTS NOTES:
Vancouver has changed quite a bit since the Islanders last faced them. Captain J.T. Miller was traded to the New York Rangers in January, with Filip Chytil and Vincent Mancini joining the Canucks. Chytil will not play on Wednesday, but Mancini has two assists in nine games on defense.
Also joining the Canucks is defenseman Marcus Pettersson and forward Drew O’Connor. Acquired in a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins, both have six points in 20 games with the club.
Filip Hronek has a three-game point streak against the Islanders entering Wednesday’s game. The defenseman has two goals and two assists for four points in that span, with all three games being since a trade from the Detroit Red Wings.
Jake DeBrusk and Tyler Myers each have seven goals in their careers against the Islanders to lead the Canucks. Brock Boeser and Quinn Hughes each have eight assists against New York to lead the team, while Hughes and Myers are tied in total points with 12.
Thatcher Demko will face the Islanders on Wednesday. The netminder picked up the win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday after 22 saves on 25 shots in a shootout victory. Against the Islanders, he is 3-0-0 with a 2.86 GAA and .911 SV% in four career games, most recently making 30 saves on 33 shots in a win on Nov. 15, 2023.
VANCOUVER CANUCKS LINES:
*NOTE: The Canucks will be without forward Elias Pettersson on Wednesday after suffering an undisclosed injury against the Rangers on Saturday.

The main problem you have now is trying to move on from Mayfield Casey Engvall DuClair. That’s 12.5 Million with these guys that have no future with team. Casey can center a fourth line or be an extra forward. Scotty might be able to lose weight and become a better puck mover and play a role. Around 3 million for a 7th DMan and a 13th Forward????Engvall and DuClair have no roles at all. It’s a bad situation when you really need to move on from these guys, and they all have long term contracts and NTC’s.
