Islanders Host Dallas Stars In Return From 4 Nations Break: Lines & Notes
The Islanders look to extend their home winning streak to seven games.
ELMONT, NY — With a 4 Nations Faceoff champion crowned, the New York Islanders (25-23-7) return to action against the Dallas Stars (35-18-2) on Sunday.
Puck drop at UBS Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the game can be found on MSGSN.
The Islanders fell to the Stars 3-0 in their first meeting of the season on Oct. 12th at American Airlines Center.
Tyler Seguin scored bookend goals in the first and third periods, with Jamie Benn scoring in the second in the win. Jake Oettinger pitched a 34-save shutout to finish the victory.
LINEUP UPDATES:
Ryan Pulock and Scott Mayfield each skated on Saturday and were removed from IR. Both will return to the lineup.
Adam Boqvist is a healthy scratch.

The Islanders’ second line each contributed to a pair of points prior to the break against the Minnesota Wild. Kyle Palmieri and Brock Nelson each had a goal and an assist, with Maxim Tsyplakov notching a pair of helpers.
Following the two-assist game against the Wild, Tsyplakov is averaging an assist per game over his last five games. He is in a four-way tie for third on the team in helpers this season with 18.
Bo Horvat tops active Islanders in goals against the Stars, boasting eight in 21 career games. Anthony Duclair leads the team in assists and total points against them with 12 and 19, respectively, in 24 career matchups.
Ilya Sorokin will start Sunday night’s game for the Islanders. He last started both games of their final back-to-back before the break, most recently allowing five goals on 32 shots in a loss to Minnesota. Against Dallas, he is 2-0-1 in three career games, boasting a 1.59 GAA and .950 SV%, most recently allowing making 30 saves on 32 shots in a win on Feb. 26, 2024.
Opponents Notes:
Matt Duchene has been hot for the Wild as of late, recording multiple points in each of the last three games. The forward has five goals and three assists for eight points in that span.
Benn enters Sunday’s game on a five-game point streak after recording an assist against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. The Dallas captain has a goal and five assists for six points in that span.
Mavrik Bourque, a former first-round pick of the Stars, has begun to make his mark as a rookie. He enters Sunday on a four-game point streak with two goals and two assists in that span, along with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points this season.
Seguin was placed on the IR in December after surgery to repair a left-side femoroacetabular impingement and the left-side hip labrum. With the center out, Benn leads Dallas in scoring across the board against New York, boasting eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 25 career games.
After Casey DeSmith started the front end of the back-to-back on Saturday, Oettinger will return to the crease on Sunday. He last allowed four goals on 37 shots in a shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 7. Against the Islanders, he is 4-1-0 with a 1.58 GAA and .941 SV% following the shutout in October.
