Islanders Jean-Gabriel Pageau Raves About Simon Holmstrom's Growth

From the moment Simon Holmstrom was recalled to the NHL, Jean-Gabriel Pageau was his No. 1 fan. A few years later and Pageau is incredibly proud of Holmstrom's growth on and off the ice.

When Simon Holmstrom was first recalled in November of 2022, I remember Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Zach Parise raving about the youngster’s game.

The then-21-year-old had barely skated with the team, but they remembered his game from training camp and were eager to see how it would translate to the NHL level.

Holmstrom’s defensive game was a standout, but so was his quietness.

I remember joking with Matt Martin, Holmstrom’s stallmate then and still today, who said that he had some peace and quiet when he got off the ice.

Flash-forward a few years later, and not only has the now 23-year-old Holmstrom been more of an offensive threat, but his personality has shined in the room.
