BELLEROSE, NY — Kelly Cheeseman thought 1,500 submissions would make the New York Islanders’ third-jersey contest a success.

They got 80,000.

The Islanders’ President of Business Operations spoke with reporters about the overwhelming response, James Doyle’s winning Lighthouse design, what the organization learned from the process and his relationship with general manager Mathieu Darche.
