Islanders Lineup vs. Blue Jackets & Notes
Pierre Engvall will serve as a healthy scratch for first time since being recalled.
After falling 3-1 to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night, the New York Islanders look to rebound and win the back end of their back-to-back situation.
Semyon Varlamov (1-2-1, 3.72 GAA, .856 SV%) gets the nod against Elvis Merzlikins (1-2-0, 2.76 GAA, .900 SV%).
Varlamov is 11-5-2 with a 2.18 GAA and .937 SV% in his career against the Blue Jackets, while Merzlikins is 1-3-0 with a 3.08 GAA and .906 SV% in his career against the Islanders.
Alexander Romanov will miss his third straight game, as he is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. It’s not a concussion, per general manager Lou Lamoriello.
Here’s Stefen Rosner’s column on Romanov’s absence and how it’s affected the team:
He was expected to be back against the Ducks. We were told he had not suffered any kind of setback at this time.
Pierre Engvall, who played the last two games after being recalled, is a healthy scratch, with Matt Martin taking his spot on the fourth line.
Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal have been separated.
Hudson Fasching, in his season debut on Tuesday, played well, earning a second chance tonight.
Casey Cizikas is back together with Matt Martin.
Here’s the full Islanders lineup:

Barzal-Nelson-Palmieri
Lee-Pageau-Fasching
