ELMONT, NY — After blowing a 3-0 lead on Saturday night, losing 6-3 to the Florida Panthers, the New York Islanders look to start their week off with a win over the Anaheim Ducks.
This is the first of a back-to-back as the team flies to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets on Wednesday night at 7 PM.
Ilya Sorokin (2-1-1, 1.74 GAA, .936 SV%) this season. gets the nod against Anaheim, a team he owns a 4-0-0 with a 1.75 GAA and a .943 SV%. in four career starts.
For Anaheim, Lukas Dostal (3-2-1, 2.17 GAA, .936 SV%) is between the pipes.
He’s played the Islanders once in his career, allowing six goals on 19 shots in a 6-1 loss on March 10, 2024.
Alexander Romanov will miss his second straight game, as he is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. It’s not a concussion, per general manager Lou Lamoriello.
Listen to Stefen Rosner’s NHL Radio spot from this morning:
He was expected to be back against the Ducks. We were told he had not suffered any kind of setback at this time.
Matt Martin, who played in his first game of the season on Saturday after inking a one-year deal, will not play tonight. Hudson Fasching makes his season debut alongside Kyle MacLean and Pierre Engvall.
Head coach Patrick Roy said Engvall would get another shot tonight. It seems that the bottom-line wingers will rotate until someone wins the job, with Martin likely to play Wednesday against the Blue Jackets, per Roy.
Here’s the Islanders lineup:
Holmstrom-Horvat-Barzal
Tsyplakov-Nelson-Palmieri
Lee-Pageau-Cizikas
Engvall-MacLean-Fasching

Solo Stove being the big sponsor is classic this season. The little flames on the jersey logo is the only fire this team has. Can’t wait until Patrick erupts! Malkin and ownership should go to Patty and say Lou will support you till the end of the year, but it’s your show make the moves you want. Patty be yourself and call a spade a spade. He knows this team outside of Goaltending is a dumpster fire.
I hope he does! This Patrick is holding it all in WHY?
