Islanders Lineup vs. Red Wings & Notes
The Islanders conclude their five-game road trip in Detroit.
After falling to the Calgary Flames 2-1 in a shootout, the New York Islanders (7-7-5) conclude their season-long five-game road trip against the Detroit Red Wings (7-9-2).
Tonight’s goalie matchup is the same as it was when the Red Wings shut out the Islanders 1-0 at UBS Arena on Oct. 22.
Ilya Sorokin (4-3-3, 2.70 GAA, .913 SV%), who is trying to win career No. 100 for the third time, stopped 10 of 11 in that loss. Alex Lyon (2-4-0, 3.14 GAA, .903 SV%) stopped all 30 saves that came his way.
Islanders captain Anders Lee is one assist shy of 200. Noah Dobson is a point shy of 200 for his career, while Ryan Pulock is two points shy of 200.
Alexander Romanov, who returned to the lineup against Calgary after missing seven games, will play in his 300th career regular season game.
Dennis Cholowski is facing the team that drafted him 20th overall in 2016 for the first time tonight. He won the 7th job out of training camp and has played in 11 games, with four points (2G, 2A) and is a +3. He’s earned Roy's trust.
Per MSGSN, Cholowski averaged 9:22 minutes per game over his first seven games this seaosn but has played an average of 14:06 minutes over his last four.
The Islanders are 1-1-2 on their road trip, with points in four of five games entering tonight. They have the opportunity to earn six out of a possible ten.
