The New York Islanders have one game left on the docket before Christmas, and it’s a game that they cannot afford to lose for a few reasons.

Their opponent is the Buffalo Sabres, who have lost 13 straight games.

It’s a group that seems completely numb to losing, showing no real emotion. The team seems to have quit on general manager Kevyn Adams and head coach Lindy Ruff, who is in his second stint running the bench.

The Hockey Gods are serving Buffalo as a peace offering for the Islanders' lack of injury luck this season. They should accept it.
