All good news on the updates!!!! Especially Romanov, you don’t trade that young man if a Stanley Cup is your goal in the future. Dobson and Romanov are your base on the backend, their best is yet to come. Being healthy, confidence, and increased strength training is the ticket for both to maximize their potential. The more we move forward the less I think Marner is in play for the Islanders. Not a shocker! Too bad it would be great for now and the future. Maybe Darche thinks Marner’s numbers are inflated to some degree playing with Papi. How teams view Marner is going to be interesting. It’s possible he is a very good versatile two way 60 point player outside Toronto (Bo Horvat Type).Or he is a great versatile two way 40 plus goal scorer and an 85 pt player outside of Toronto. I take the gamble at 13.5x7 the risk is low, cap is going up and you at least have a Bo Horvat most likely more without moving assets. The best possible option to clear space is to move JG, Mayfield, and DuClair. Outside of JG which seems out the door already. The other two might be difficult to move contract wise NTC and AAV. I’m not too keen on the team running it back again, but it’s shaping up to be another year of transition. Trying to compete and at the same time moving contracts and house keeping. They may not say it but they maybe looking at 2026 -2027. The old saying patience is a virtue, might be the best long range plan. Tough to watch the past four years of Islanders hockey. Maybe Darche has something up his sleeve. At this point Draft Matthew Schaefer and grab a team’s #2 for Pager, and have productive rest of draft. Maybe Kirill Kaprizov next year along with the influx of young talent is the proper plan. Give me as many talented Russians on this team as possible. He is a pure scorer that is without question. In saying that maybe he stays in Minnesota. So many moving pieces thats what’s fun about playing GM. Can Darche build a Cup Winner that’s really what it comes down to. The wingers are the Achilles heel of this team, we need two maybe three top shelf ones over the next two years.
