Islanders Return To UBS Arena To Face Kraken
The Islanders look to extend their point streak to four games.
EAST MEADOW, NY — After a loss to the Montreal Canadiens on the road on Tuesday, the New York Islanders (9-10-7) return to home confines against the Seattle Kraken (12-13-1).
Puck drop from UBS Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. The game is the Islanders’ first national broadcast of the season, available exclusively on ESPN+ and Hulu.
The Islanders fell in their first meeting with Seattle in the Emerald City on Nov. 16. Yanni Gourde broke the ice for the Kraken in the first period, with Pierre Engvall answering late in the frame. Brock Nelson scored a beautiful shorthanded marker early in the third to give New York the lead, but Jared McCann and Jamie Oleksiak scored to put Seattle over the top 3-2.
After being a healthy scratch for the last two games, Pierre Engvall comes back into the lineup. Matt Martin comes out.

Anders Lee has goals in three straight games entering Thursday’s contest. In that span, he’s totaled three goals and three assists for six points.
Noah Dobson has a three-game point streak against Seattle. He has a goal and two assists in that span. Kyle Palmieri also has points in three straight games with the Kraken, matching Dobson’s production.
Although he was kept scoreless in their last meeting, Bo Horvat leads the Islanders in goals and points against the Kraken with four and five, respectively. Dobson leads the team in helpers against them with three.
Ilya Sorokin was in the starter’s crease for New York at morning skate, he will make his 17th start of the season and third straight appearance. He took the loss in Montreal after letting up two goals and 27 shots. Against Seattle, he is 2-2-1 with a 1.79 GAA and .939 SV%, most recently taking the loss in their last meeting with three goals against on 27 shots.
OPPONENT’S NOTES:
Jaden Schwartz tallied a goal and assist in Tuesday’s game with the Carolina Hurricanes. He extended his point streak to three games, totaling two goals and two assists in that span.
Gourde, a longtime Islanders nemesis, is two assists away from 200 for his NHL career. He has seven goals and seven assists for 14 points against New York in his career.
Daniel Sprong leads active Seattle players in goals against New York with eight. Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jared McCann are tied for the team lead in assists and points against them with 11 and 16, respectively.
Joey Daccord (11-6-1, 2.68 GAA, .21 SV%) is expected to start. He made 22 saves on 24 shots in a 3-2 win against the Islanders on Nov. 1 and is 1-1-0, with a .917 SV% and a 2.00 GAA in two career starts against the Islanders.

Just go out and bomb this team tonight! 4-1 something like that 10-10-7. It seems like we already played a season and a half lol ! I assume everyone should be back in the lineup after the Christmas break. Win as many games as possible before the break, at full strength this team should be that little bit better and honestly that would be enough. Cole Eiserman is the real deal, he is just what this team needs, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him signed at the end of BU season. He is not Wally, he skates better and can create his own shot. Lou May not like playing young men, but this dude has that magic scoring touch. Patrick is ready to slide him in immediately I’m sure lol !
