We’ve spent the entire summer talking about what Pete DeBoer’s Islanders could look like. Now, we finally get to see it.

There are roster spots available. There are prospects who have legitimate cases to make. There are veterans coming back from significant injuries. There are players looking for fresh starts and others with plenty to prove.

And then there are the bigger questions.

What does DeBoer’s system actually look like with this group? Who plays with whom? What kind of identity does the fourth line have? How quickly can the Islanders get their power play going? And how much can players like Victor Eklund and Cole Eiserman force the organization’s hand?

But now, we've got more questions as Mathew Barzal is being shut down for two weeks due to inflammation.
