Happy Halloween, Islanders fans!
With the New York Islanders 13 games into their 2026-27 season, we’ve learned quite a bit about Pete DeBoer’s group.
We’ve seen Matthew Schaefer pick up right where he left off following his Calder Trophy-winning rookie season, Semyon Varlamov complete an incredible comeback, and the Islanders find ways to win games ng with significant injuries.
But we’ve also seen some of the season's early concerns come to fruition, particularly about forward depth and secondary scoring.
With the trade rumor mill heating up, plenty of questions remain about what general manager Mathieu Darche could do to improve this roster.
So, in the spirit of Halloween, I thought we’d have a little fun.
I asked Islanders fans to submit topics for a Trick or Treat edition of The Elmonters, and I’ve included a few of my own.
The concept is simple: I’ll take a statement, decide whether it’s a trick or a treat, and explain my reasoning.
Let’s get into it.
