EAST MEADOW, NY — The New York Islanders trimmed their roster on Saturday, going from three practice groups to one ahead of their final week of preseason.
All of the team’s prospects were sent back to Bridgeport, with AHL training camp opening on Monday.
Outside of the regular NHL staples and Maxim Tsyplakov, Julien Gauthier, Fredrik Karlstrom, Liam Foudy, Oliver Wahlstrom, Dennis Cholowski, Grant Hutton, and Samuel Bolduc move on to the next round of cuts.
Because of the Islanders’ cap situation, they have only enough space to roster 22 players instead of the usual 23.
Here’s the practice lineup:
Duclair-Horvat-Barzal
Tsyplakov-Nelson-Palmieri
Lee-Pageau-Holmstrom
MacLean-Cizikas-Gauthier
Extra: Engvall, Martin, Karlstrom, Foudy, Wahlstrom
Romanov-Dobson
Pelech-Pulock
Reilly-Mayfield
Cholowski-Hutton
Extra: Bolduc
G: Hogberg Skarek
NOTES:
Hudson Fasching (LBI), Ilya Sorokin (UBI), and Semyon Varlamov (TBD) aren’t skating.
Bolduc, Foudy, and Karlstrom didn’t skate.
The Islanders host the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday before concluding their preseason slate at home against the New York Rangers on Friday.
Both games are 7 PM ET starts.
