The Islanders Eklund Question Begins To Emerge

The Islanders need a spark — and Victor Eklund might be it. Should New York call up the 19-year-old with the playoffs at stake?

The New York Islanders have been a team running on good vibes all season.

The youthful energy of Matthew Schaefer — followed by Calum Ritchie — has sparked an aging room and a stale on-ice product.

Right now, after back-to-back losses, the Islanders seem to need another spark.

Maybe it comes from Tony DeAngelo returning from his lower-body injury at some point, hopefully, over the next week. Maybe it’s Simon Holmstrom, who has only missed one game due to an upper-body injury.

Or maybe… it’s something bigger.

Maybe it’s Victor Eklund.
