ELMONT, NY — After back-to-back wins this weekend, the New York Islanders host the Los Angeles Kings tonight.
The Kings are on a five-game winning streak, while the Islanders have won two straight, so one streak is coming to an end tonight.
Ilya Sorokin gets the nod as he battles Darcy Kuemper.
Sorokin is 1-3-0 with a 2.79 GAA and .911 SV% against the Kings in his career, while Kuemper is 6-6-2, with a 2.76 GAA and a .904 SV% against the Islanders.
Defenseman Scott Mayfield did not take part in Tuesday’s morning skate due to illness. He was a game-time decision but will miss the contest.
Grant Hutton will take Mayfield’s place.
Semyon Varlamov (lower body) remains day-to-day, so Marcus Hogberg will continue to back up Sorokin.

Good third period. Would have liked to play an entire game at Home. This Home situation is very very bad. You gotta give fans some wins at home! At some point Management is going to have to say this team is just not good enough as presently constructed.
Kings usually roll the Islanders physically. For the love of god win at home! If we don’t get six points in the next three games the team will have a tough time gathering momentum.
