Sunday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning might’ve been the dagger on the New York Islanders’ season. They needed more wins last week at home, losing three of four (1-1-2). And then to lose back-to-back while their wild-card opponents won some games and got some points was a devastating blow.
Barring a miracle run, like the 8-0-1 stretch we saw to close out last season, the New York Islanders will likely be in reflection mode soon.
It’s been a what-if season.
