Islanders Wrap Up California Road Trip vs. Kings: Lines & Notes
Can the Islanders beat one of the best home-ice teams in the league?
After a split of the first two games of the California road trip, the New York Islanders (29-27-7) wrap up their Golden State swing against the Los Angeles Kings (33-20-9).
Puck drop at Crypto.com Arena is scheduled for 10:30 p.m., and the game can be found on MSGSN.
The Kings bested the Islanders 3-1 at UBS Arena on Dec. 10. Los Angeles got a goal in each period of play, with Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala and Mikey Anderson lighting the lamp. Darcy Kuemper made 19 saves in the win.
Kyle MacLean was a game-time decision due to illness after missing Sunday’s game but he will play. Defenseman Scott Mayfield will serve as a healthy scratch.

Adam Boqvist had points in each game of the Islanders’ back-to-back this weekend. He lit the lamp on Saturday against the San Jose Sharks as a defenseman and added an assist as a forward on Sunday facing the Anaheim Ducks.
Anders Lee scored the Islanders’ lone goal in their last meeting. He leads the team in goals against the Kings in his career, notching 11 in 19 career games. Bo Horvat leads the team in the remaining offensive categories, boasting 14 assists and 18 points in 32 games.
Ilya Sorokin returns to the crease. Sorokin last started against the Sharks on Saturday, making 38 saves on 40 shots in a win. Against the Kings, Sorokin is 1-4-0 in five career games, boasting a 2.64 GAA and .914 SV%. He most recently allowed two goals on 29 shots in a loss in their last meeting.
Opponents Notes:
Six different players had multiple points for the Kings on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights. Warren Foegle had a goal and assist to put him on a pair of milestone watches. He is two goals and two points short of 100 and 300, respectively in his career. He enters Tuesday’s game with 98 goals and 100 assists for 198 points in 493 games.
Quinton Byfield has goals in three straight games entering Tuesday’s game. Against the Islanders, Adrian Kempe also has a three-game goal streak, adding an assist to total a four-game point streak against New York.
Anze Kopitar is the Kings’ leading scorer against New York across the board entering Tuesday’s game. The center and Los Angeles captain with nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 28 career games.
Kuemper will start Tuesday against the Islanders. He last started on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues, making 19 saves on 20 shots in an overtime win. Against New York, he is 6-3-1 with a 2.40 GAA and .911 SV%, making 19 saves in their last meeting to finish the win.
