During this past NHL season, the spotlight shone brightly on New York Islanders’ No. 1 pick, Matthew Schaefer, for obvious reasons.

It seemed like every single night, the 18-year-old was breaking records, quickly going from prospect to superstar to face of the franchise.

The offense. The defense. The flair for the dramatic. Wearing his emotions on his sleeve. The leadership. The ability to generate momentum.

These are all traits that describe Schaefer.

But they also describe another Islanders prospect.
