Ritchie, Eiserman, D. Nelson, George, Bednarik, Finley, some nice young goalies. The cupboard is not full but it’s not completely empty. We need more picks and two of our own lottery picks. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. We just have to hope a line of Eiserman - Ritchie - N. Nelson is something very special. It does have all the ingredients, and they all seem driven to succeed.
As far as the trade of Nelson it signals a rebuild more than a retool. Is it necessary, absolutely. The real question to me aren’t Nelson and Palmeri. Can Lou move Lee Mayfield Casey and other older players for salary cap space next season and in the future. The New Timeline and how everything fits in that construct is the only thing that matters right now. Lou needs to basically give some of these guys away and retain salary this year. JG value has to be extremely high now. He is not only a jack of all trades, but a proven playoff performer. To me you have to cash in those chips for a first rounder in 25 or 26. Let’s face it we will also need two years of lottery picks, starting with this year. Team is going to be awful the rest of this year, and most likely next. However the year after that if they capitalize on their picks they just might have a foundation of a contender.
Was alway super high on Dufour, I guess the Avs were too. It looks like just a random throw in to most. This guy won a Memorial Cup, played an outstanding WJC up and down the lineup in every role. Came to Bridgeport and had an excellent first season. What happened after that is inexplicable. Supposedly he had some issues. My fear is he was a victim of the malaise that engulfs Bridgeport. Is there a more depressing environment in the AHL, the answer is No! The fact that he hasn’t had a bounce back season this year is disconcerting. Bottomline I hope he doesn’t become what I believed he could, and just turns into the throw in. Honestly if I was the Islanders I would have given him a long look in a bottom six role coming off that first AHL season.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they move Pulock to Jets. Jets need Another quality D man. Could swap for Lambert or first round pick
