EAST MEADOW, NY — Since being recalled from Bridgeport, New York Islanders forward Marc Gatcomb has been a rejuvenating force. Like the fourth liners before him, more of a combination of Casey Cizikas and Cal Clutterbuck, the 25-year-old is impeccable on the forecheck, loves to finish his checks, and lately, has found a scoring touch.

He has had two goals over his last four games, playing alongside Kyle MacLean and Maxim Tsyplakov, a line that head coach Patrick Roy is starting to trust more and more in key moments.

In the Islanders 4-3 overtime loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, Gatcomb scored a huge goal for his club, finishing off a tremendous seam pass from Tsyplakov to give the Islanders a 2-1 lead in the final minutes of the first period:

Their line has been clicking, with a total of four goals over the last five games.

Following Sunday’s skate, I sat down with Gatcomb to talk about his game, his line, the playoff hunt, and more!
