VANCOUVER — New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal is ecstatic to be back home, especially after missing last season’s game against the Canucks in Vancouver due to injury.

Barzal is from Coquitlam, British Columbia, about half an hour from Rogers Arena, and will have plenty of family and friends in the building for this one.

I sat down with Barzal to discuss his excitement level, what it was like growing up in the area, which team he grew up rooting for, and much more in this exclusive interview.
