EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — A few weeks ago, I was sitting at the Joe McMahon Charity Golf outing dinner when I saw the “once an Islander, always an Islander” mantra come alive right in front of me.
Former players from the ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s were gathered together, telling stories from their playing days as if they were one big family.
This week, that same spirit is alive at the Matt Martin Hockey Camp — only now with a much younger group of alumni.
