EXCLUSIVE LISTEN: Johnny Schaefer’s Emotions Run Raw Watching Brother Matthew Fulfill NHL Dream
In an emotional interview, Johnny Schaefer shares what it was like watching his younger brother, Matthew, make his NHL debut.
PITTSBURGH, PA — When we spoke to Matthew Schaefer before his NHL debut, he was as cool as a cucumber. To the 18-year-old, it was just another game.
But to everyone else, this was more than a game. It was an unforgettable moment.
During the second intermission, I had the chance to speak with Johnny Schaefer, Matt’s older brother, to get his thoughts on what it was like to see his younger brother live out his dream.
Usually, when I do these interviews, I transcribe them, but I think, given what Johnny had to say, it’s best if you hear it in his voice.
Happy Free Friday!
Tough Mean Young RHD for the 3rd Pair eventually should be a target 🎯! Fighting and Net Clearing ability a prerequisite. As far as a puck mover RHD, target a good prospect already on a roster with a JG trade. Maybe you include a Pelech or Pulock. Winnipeg? All moves are for the future!
Outside of Romanov Schaefer and George that entire D- Core has to be rebuilt. Pelech and Pulock can help contenders, their days as a shut down pair are over. Basically with Kashaun in the OHL the LHD is set for now and the future. We need to build an entire Right Side. Which is fine you know what needs to be done. Darche needs to wheel and deal with this roster for futures. Wins this year aren’t as important as building. Build a Cup contender, this is a mere stop gap type team. Sure they looked better, but Patty understands it’s a Zero Sum Game professional sports! Win Lose that’s it !
