ELMONT, NY — New York Islanders rookie defenseman Matthew Schaefer is coming off a game in which he played 31:59 minutes, the most ever by a teenager in NHL history.
Through his first 72 NHL games, Schaefer is averaging 24:46 minutes per game, 13th most in the NHL.
