The more I’ve listened back to New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello’s press conference, the more I’ve understood his mindset.

"If we could have gotten younger and better, other than draft picks, we would have done it without question. But we felt that where a few of our players are -- when I say a few, several players -- that we could have made moves with, they would be better done at a different time.”

So, for all those screaming — I get the Kyle Palmieri mindset, especially if he doesn’t reach an extension and walks for free this summer — let’s be clear in what Lamoriello meant by that quote.
