Nelson Skates In 900th Career Game, Islanders Open Back-To-Back Against Rangers: Lines & Notes
Nelson ties Bobby Nystrom for fourth all-time in games played in franchise history
NEW YORK, NY — With the trade deadline on the horizon, the New York Islanders (27-25-7) open the preceding week against the New York Rangers (30-26-4) in the front end of a back-to-back.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and the game can be found on MSGSN.
The two teams met less than a week ago at UBS Arena, with the Rangers picking up a 5-1 win. Jonny Brodzinski scored twice in the win, with the Rangers chasing Ilya Sorokin from the game after 40 minutes of play.
Brock Nelson is skating in his 900th NHL game on Monday. He will become the fifth Islander to accomplish the milestone, joining Bobby Nystrom, Josh Bailey, Denis Potvin and Bryan Trottier.

Kyle Palmieri continued his goal-scoring ways on Saturday, scoring on the power play in the first period. The forward has a goal in five of his last six games and 19 for the season. His next red light will give him his seventh season of 20 goals in his career.
After notching a pair of goals and an assist, Nelson has a five-game point streak entering his milestone contest. The center has three goals and five assists for eight points in that span.

Sorokin will start Tuesday’s game for the Islanders in a rematch of last Tuesday’s game. Lifetime against the Rangers, he is 3-5-2 in 10 career matchups, boasting a 3.50 GAA and .895 SV%, allowing five goals on 11 shots before being yanked on Tuesday.

The Rangers were once again dealing between their last date with the Islanders, swinging a deal that sent Ryan Lindgren to the Colorado Avalanche. Center Juuso Parssinen and former Islanders defenseman Calvin de Haan were part of the return for the Rangers, with the latter recording an assist in his debut on Sunday.
J.T. Miller remains hot since his reunion with the Rangers, entering play on a five-game point streak. The forward has four goals and four assists for eight points in that span. Following a goal against the Islanders on Tuesday, he has an eight-game point streak against them with three goals and six assists for nine points.
Mika Zibanejad has a six-game point streak coming into Monday, boasting three goals and six assists for nine points in that span. He also has points in eight straight games against the Islanders, notching two goals and eight assists for 10 points.
Despite being kept scoreless last week, Artemi Panarin tops the Rangers in scoring against the Islanders. The winger has 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points in 36 career games against them.
After Jonathan Quick started Monday’s game against Nashville, Igor Shesterkin will once again face the Islanders on Monday.
