Ilya Sorokin took part in practice for the first time since offseason shoulder surgery. His two new teammates shared what it was like to shoot on him.

EAST MEADOW, NY — For the first time sine undergoing off-season back surgery, Ilya Sorokin was back on the practice ice with his New York Islanders teammates.
Two of the players were new to the Sorokin show: Anthony Duclair and Maxim Tsyplakov.
Both had faced him in their professional careers, with Duclair battling against him as a member of the Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks, while Tsyplakov battled him when his Spartak Moscow team battled Sorokin’s CSKA Moscow teams years ago.
I caught up with both of them after Thursday’s skate to get their thoughts on No. 30.
Duclair: “Oh, I scored a couple goals of goals. No, he's awesome. Obviously, an elite goalie. I had some good battles with him since he came into the league. He’s a guy that's very flexible. I know firsthand. Sometimes, you think you have him back door, but then he comes in and makes a split save. He’s very athletic. He doesn't give up on plays. He’s one of the most elite goalies in the league, for sure.”
Tsyplakov: “Looking good. I'm happy for him coming back to team. First time to see how he practice, how he can work. And yeah, he make a lot of saves today. I liked. He’s helped me a little bit [to get acclimated], but we are not in the locker room at the same time because he comes on the ice in the morning.”
Sorokin said about Tsyplakov:
“Good guy, good player. He add(s) a lot of good things to our team. And yeah, I play against him, but he was young. I don't know him, but now we have met, and he a big guy, big skills, and we need him.”
Lamoriello’s Emphasis On Goaltending A Saving Grace For Islanders As Sorokin Gets Game Ready
EAST MEADOW, NY -- On Thursday, the New York Islanders welcomed Ilya Sorokin back to practice for the first time since undergoing offseason back surgery.
For many teams, an injury to a star netminder would have been a death sentence.
However, because of the value general manager Lou Lamoriello puts on the goaltender position, the Islanders didn't need to worry too much.
