On the surface, the New York Islanders general manager position seems like one that may deter many people.
The team just missed the playoffs after a very difficult season. There are 12 free agents to deal with. There isn’t a ton of salary-cap flexibility. The prospect pool has gotten better over the last few seasons, but overall, there’s a clear need to get younger and develop, which includes revamping the AHL’s Bridgeport Islanders.
This job is a challenge.
