Islanders Goaltending Decisions For Rest Of Season Seem Simple
The Islander should give Hogberg as many of these final five games as possible.
It was understandable why Ilya Sorokin (29-23-6, 2.77 GAA, .905 SV%) had been given the bulk of the starts down the stretch here with the New York Islanders having to win out to qualify for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs essentially.
However, Sorokin will not start against the New York Rangers on Thursday night after he sustained a lower-body injury in their 7-6 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators.
Marcus Hogberg will get the start on Thursday with Tristan Lennox recalled from Bridgeport on an emergency basis. Hogberg should get the bulk, if not all, of the remaining five games.
But back to Sorokin for a second.
