Up Next On Darche's To-Do List: Bridgeport
The Islanders hired two assistant coaches to fill out the rest of their NHL staff. It's time to fill out Bridgeport's staff.
When the New York Islanders hired Mathieu Darche as general manager, I laid out a to-do list for him. At the top: building Patrick Roy’s coaching staff.
Fast forward to today, and the NHL staff is complete after the club announced the additions of Ray Bennett and Bob Boughner to Roy’s bench. They join Benoit Desrosiers, who has been retained.
Here’s a summary of Darche’s moves so far:
Retained HC Patrick Roy, AC Benoit Desrosiers, and goalie coach Piero Greco
Relieved ACs Tommy Albelin and John MacLean
Relieved Bridgeport HC Rick Kowalsky and ACs Matt MacDonald and Pascal Rhéaume
Hired Ray Bennett and Bob Boughner
Extended Kyle Palmieri (2 years, $4.75M AAV)
Extended Adam Boqvist (1 year, $850K)
Did not sign prospect Justin Gill to ELC
Next up for Darche is Bridgeport and making a decision on Chris Lamoriello.
