‘We Needed It’: Islanders Push Pace In Post-Break Ramp-Up Week
The Islanders used a demanding practice week to rebuild rhythm, sharpen structure, and prepare for their critical stretch run.
EAST MEADOW, NY — After a mandatory 11-day break, the New York Islanders returned to the practice ice this week to begin preparations for what promises to be a grueling stretch run to close out the season.
The week started with the basics — shaking off the rust and getting their legs back under them on Tuesday — before gradually ramping up the intensity with each passing day and fine-tuning their systems.
The Islanders will be off Saturday and Sunday before returning Monday, giving them three full days to prepare for Thursday’s matchup against the Montreal Canadiens.
Simply put, this was a critical week for the group.
